Roland SERVICE INFORMATION NO 100223 JP-6 SUBJECT VARIABLE MIDI CHANNEL PROM FOR JP-6 We introduce an optional E-PROM ver.6 (variable MIDI channel) for JP-6. This is E-PROM that JP-6 can be used in MIDI connections of plural equipments (in the different channels). NOTE: The E-PROM being used now on JP-6 will never be changed into this type. So this E-PROM is the optional part which you can apply for request of special customers who want to make function up on their JP-6. FUNCTIONS OF MIDI CHANNEL ASSIGN PROM a) This E-PROM has been completely programed in MIDI 1.0 ver. and it can be corresponded to all equipments with MIDI ver.1.0 including other manufacture's ones. b) It contains self-set function to "OMNI OFF" mode, and MIDI IN (Recongnizing function) will be "OMNI OFF" mode automatically when setting a channel. How channel assignable is shown in the attached manual of it. NOTE: This function is very effective for setting up in the MIDI connection of plural equipments. C) When power on, MIDI IN will be "OMNI OFF" mode. This means that players can start to play without taking a panel set or setting a channel when receiver and transmitter's channels are same, even if a MIDI equipment (which does not send out "OMNI OFF" message from MIDI OUT when power on e.g. YAMAHA DX-7 or any other SCI one) is connected to JP-6 (receiver). NOTE: OMNI OFF mode (MIDI IN) is necessary in the MIDI connections of plural equipments.
